Cuisinart CB-30 Cast-Iron Single Burner, Stainless Steel Review

This Cuisinart CB-30 will work for you if you just need an extra cooking facility in your kitchen or even if you don’t have a kitchen but need some way of cooking food. It’s a great size to take away with you when going on holiday if you have no cooking facilities and want something that won’t take up much space but does the job. It can work in a dorm for new college students or at parties outside. The options are endless.

Features of the Cuisinart CB-30

  • Heavy-duty cast iron plate for durability
  • Powerful 1300 watts for quick heat-up and heat retention throughout cooking
  • 6-setting adjustable temperature control from low to highest heat
  • Ready and safety “on” indicator lights
  • “Coil-less” cooking surface for easy cleanup

This electric burner is 5.8 x 15.4 x 13.8 inches in size and the burner plate is 7.5 inches in diameter. It is of solid construction and also looks good on the countertop.

There is only 1 main control knob which adjusts the temperature, there is a light to indicate the the power is on when it is plugged in. Once you are ready to use the Cuisinart CB-30 you adjust the temperature to the level you want and the hotplate will begin to heat up. Once you switch it to heat up the hotplate will begin to get hot so you need to be careful that you don’t touch it by mistake, you can place your pan on the top of the burner just as you would on a regular cooker to begin cooking. When the burner reaches the desired temperature it will light up a second light which is green on the front of the control panel so you know you are at your full heat.

The Cuisinart CB-30 has a powerful 1300 watt power which allows it to heat up fairly quickly and to hold the temperature throughout your cooking time.

The temperature knob has 5 different heat settings marked on it:

  • Setting 1 — Low
  • Setting 2 — Low/Medium
  • Setting 3 — Medium
  • Setting 4 — Medium/High
  • Setting 5 — High

and it also has a min setting and an OFF setting.

The hotplate part of this is an enclosed cast iron plate, it’s solid and can withstand a large pot on it. It’s easy to wipe clean, but you need to make sure it is cool before you do that and make sure it is turned to off and unplugged from the wall. A damp cloth or sponge is recommended as it should clear most spills from any part of the cooker.

It’s recommended that you use pots and pans which have a base the same size as the plate because if you use large pans they could touch the plastic finish around the edge of the cooker which isn’t heat proof.

There are no serviceable parts on this Cuisinart CB-30 so if it stops working it needs to be returned to the supplier for repair.
